The Truth: The Associates Survey launched by TBD

TBD Marketing

We’ve just launched The Truth: The Associates Survey - an independent benchmark showing what associates across UK law firms really think about their work, their culture, and their future.

The good news?  When firms get this right, associates don’t want to leave.
Where feedback is strong, expectations are clear and flexibility is trusted, associates describe feeling proud of their work and genuinely happy where they are. In those environments, culture and people become a retention advantage, not just a talking point.

But the data also provides a clear reality check for many firms:

  • 49% of associates would seriously consider leaving if headhunted
  • 41% don’t feel their firm supports psychological safety
  • 32% don’t believe in the feedback culture at their firm
  • Negative net promoter scores show deep scepticism around M&A and private equity growth

It's time to stop guessing what associates care about. Download the report to see what’s really driving pride, disengagement and flight risk across UK law firms.
