Carole Spiers, "Honoured and Humbled" at being awarded an MBE
16 Jun 2025
Carole Spiers, a Centrum Magazine contributor is truly delighted to share that she has been awarded an MBE for her services to stress, mental health, and wellbeing.
Many of you will know that she has dedicated over 30 years to this work, so to receive this national recognition is both humbling and deeply meaningful.
Stress can affect people at any stage of life — young or old — and it is so often closely linked to our mental health. Carole has spent her career giving a voice to those who struggle to speak up, often silenced by stigma or fear of being judged. This honour is a reminder of how far we’ve come in raising awareness — and how much more still needs to be done.
Carole is also Chair at HGS u3a, where they do their utmost to make sure everyone feels included and supported — and that, at its heart, is the true value of our community.
As we grow older, ill health can sometimes creep up on us, and loneliness can take us by surprise.
HGS u3a is more than just a place for learning and activities — it’s a network of friendship and support that’s here for you.
