Job Description

The Responsibilities:
• Drive and support the Firm’s business development strategy within designated business areas
• Identify new business development opportunities, working with partners and fee-earners around client service, strategic focus and growth opportunities
• Improve the approach to the current analysis of client base / work being won within designated business areas. Utilise the business intelligence available from analysis and financial data
• Assisting partners and fee-earners to understand fully the firms offering and identify opportunities to improve cross-selling
• Liaising with partners in tender / proposal situations. Assisting with the production of pitch documents and coaching fee-earners for presentations
• Conducting post tender de-briefs. Collating, sharing and disseminating best practice and lessons learned from both successful and unsuccessful bids. Undertake quarterly analysis of results and report findings to the Marketing & BD Director
• Constant development of the business development pitching collateral. Ensure core messages provide appropriate differentiation
• Providing advice to partners / fee-earners on individual or team client development plans and business development activities. Ensure that ideas align to strategy and support agreed priorities.
• Be the day to day coach and mentor for the BD team
• Undertake appraisals and mid-term reviews for BDM's in liaison with Marketing & BD Director
• Work with the Marketing & BD Director to develop and manage the BD strategy and continuously enhance the services the team provides
• Ensure team planning documents are up to date
Act as deputy for the Marketing & BD Director on agreed groups or committees as instructed
• Work as a team player with colleagues leading on Marketing Communications and Marketing systems to provide cohesive support for the firms marketing & BD requirements.
• Oversee the marketing planning and budgeting cycle and make recommendations for improvements.

The Candidate:
• Previous legal or accountancy experience
• Degree educated or equivalent
• Previous man-management
