As we head cautiously out of recession, many firms find themselves working harder with less BD and Marketing resources. As the work picks up, fee earners will have less time available to dedicate to business development and client relationship activities.
Most people prioritise the important things in life but when it comes to business development activity there is often a lack of agreement as to what the really important areas of focus are.
In practice, many businesses find excellent business development and client management a real challenge. While there is usually a desire to look after clients better, to win a greater share of their work and to know that competitors would find it extremely difficult to win work from their clients, this desire is not backed up by the will and motivation to make key client management a reality.

Gary Williams has worked with a variety of professional services firms, from global giants through to national and regional firms as well as niche players. This variety has given him invaluable experience not only in terms of the different challenges his clients face but also from the perspective of the fee earners.
Before joining PACE in 2004 Gary ran his own consultancy helping professionals win more profitable work. Prior to this he held a number of senior sales and marketing posts in the commercial sector both in the UK and overseas
